Since sleep is a huge factor in our stress levels, let’s start with 10 ways to get better sleep.

White Noise App (or machine)
Download a white noise type app on your smart phone. My favorite is Relax Melodies, it will give you tons of options to layer different sounds that are relaxing to you. Such as ocean waves, and rain, or trees blowing in the wind with an occasional bird chirping. When I play this app (usually at a low volume) I feel like my brain focuses more on the sounds then all the things I need to get done the next day and before I know it I am fast asleep. - Free Writing
This is just a way to allow your brain to unload everything that happened during the day. Don’t worry about it being legible, grammatically correct or for it to even make sense… Just write and keep writing till you brain goes blank. - Make a list -
This one is similar to #2 except this one is to help you jot down your To Do List for the following day so you don’t lay awake all night thinking about everything you can’t forget to do when you wake up. - Keep It Cool -
Make sure you bedroom temperature is with the ideal range for optimal sleep which is between 60 and 67 degrees. I know it’s hard during the summer months to have the AC set within this range but just know the closer you get to this optimal range the better you will sleep. - Power Down-
I know so many of us are guilty of this one. Laying in bed while browsing the internet, watching YouTube, or scrolling through TikTok while you “unwind” from the day will not help you get more ZZZ’s. Unfortunately, studies are showing that the blue glow from our electronic devices are actually keeping us awake longer. *Study - Sleep Schedule -
I will admit, this one is probably the hardest for me to stick to. I have however, noticed that when I do stick to a bed time schedule, I spend less time tossing a turning trying to fall asleep and more time actually snoozing away. So find a good bedtime where you don’t feel like you are missing out on TV time, or quality time with your family, but make it early enough that you can wake up feeling rested. - Book an Energy Healing Session-
If you are really struggling with sleep and not feeling rested when you wake up, you may be in need of clearing trapped emotions and other energetic imbalances that are actually preventing you from sleeping. From my own experience I wake up feeling like I spelt so hard my ear hurts from having my arm curled under my head and not moving all night long. -
Entertained Entities -
Yep, I am totally going there. I have had too many clients experience entities in their homes that keep them up at night that I just can’t leave it off the list. Not all entities or disembodied spirits hang out because they want to cause harm, or scare us. Sometimes they are just bored and it’s totally entertaining for them to “mess with us” while we sleep. Creepy? Yes!, Totally fixable? Absolutely!
If you get the feeling that you, your house, your car etc. have unwanted guests, let me know and together we can send them packing. -
Crystals & Gemstones for Sleep
Ever wanted a great big warm hug from the person you love most in life at the exact time you needed it? Well, that is exactly how I would describe what a crystal grid session feels like. In future posts I will talk more about crystal grids, their benefits and how you can do them for yourself at home. My go to healing crystals for sleep are…
Angelite
Black Tourmaline
Quartz
Hematite
Labradorite and
Rose Quartz.
You may be saying “It’s just a rock, how can it help someone sleep?”
That is what I said until I placed a cube of sodalite on my best guinea pigs (my hubby) forehead while his eyes were closed and he immediately swiped it away while saying “OUCH THAT HURT, What was that?” my ever so eloquent response was “umm a ROCK” (insert my shocked face here).
I later learned that he felt a combination of the vibrational energy from within the stone and the effects of the Sodalite working to open up the blocked 3rd Eye Chakra.
Needless to say I was fascinated with learning everything I could about healing crystals and their meanings, how to use healing crystals, the best healing crystals to use for stress, sleep, opening chakras etc. You name it and I wanted to learn more about it.
I will dive deeper into crystal healing stones in later posts so be on the look out for those. If you would like to book a crystal healing session you can do that here. - Cover Your Alarm Clock (and other bright lights) -
I chose to donate my traditional alarm clock years ago. Mine had crazy bright lights that seemed to shine straight into my brain all night long while they ever so suddenly whisper… wake up, you are going to be late!” GAHHHH I hated how bright it was, so if you still use a regular alarm clock vs. setting an alarm on your cell phone then at the very least cover the numbers with a towel, shirt, or pillow case.
That also applies to any other bright and/or flashing lights that may be shinning off other devices in your bedroom. (Fans, Cable Box, Modems, Routers etc.) Better yet, remove all electronic from your bedroom and make it a Device Free Zen Zone. Trust me, your body will reward you every night!
So, there you have it. 10 ways to get better sleep to help reduce your stress. Some are super low effort type activities and some require you to dedicate a little extra time and energy to make it work.
Regardless of which activity you choose to start with, your body is going to love the extra attention you are giving it.
You are worth this extra effort so No EXCUSES!
